As used in the jewelry or coin world --

A Troy ounce of 100% gold [ 24-carat ]

EQUALS

How many grams ???

For some reason I have the idea

that it is about 31+ grams? [ 31.103 ]

Or.... does the use of "Troy" only apply to Silver?

How do the conversion calculations proceed [ show your work! ] to get --

FROM: 1.672 grams of 90% gold [0.900 ]

TO: being equal to 0.0484 ounces of 0.999 gold? [ pure or 24K gold ]

[ I was told that 0.0484 is the correct answer. Is that true? ]

Thanks, Mark Cornell
