Can any one help me convert how many kilowatt hours of electricty is in or could be obtained from 1 cubic metre of natural gas?

There is no exact value, because the density of gas depends on additional factors. You can get a fairly good estimate though.
The Physics Factbook lists energy density of Natural Gas at about 34.6 to 38.3 megajoule per cubic meter.
That is about 9.6 to 10.6 kilowatt hours

1M³ =35.32 FT³
1 FT³ (NG) = 1020 BTU,..35.32 X 1020 = 36,026 BTU/M³
1kWh = 3413 BTU
36,026/3413 = 10.55 kWh/M³

It varies but if you assume that 1 cubic foot of natural gas is about 1000BTU then you will arrive at a figure of 1cubic meter of natural gas is about 10.3 kwH of energy.

that's 10.55 kWh calorific; but the original question was how much electricity you could generate. You'd have to work hard to get 30% efficiency.
