  • Volume of diesel tank

    Tank Dimension:

    Cylinderical Tank (Horizontal)
    Tank Diameter = 102 inch
    Tank Length = 177.48 inch
    Medium = High Speed Diesel
    volume= ? (in litres)
    Please tell me the voume in litres of Full tank. and table showing of the medium in the tank for different depth.and how it was calculated

    I will be very thankful

    The calcuklation vs depth is fairly complicated. See post #2 of this thread:

    1 liter = 1 dm≥, so convert (or remeasure) to decimeters, 0.254 dm/in. You need to use inside measurements, or subtract two wall thicknesses from external measurements.

    Using the dimensions above, the tank is 25.9 dm dia x 45.08 dm long. Volume of a cylinder is (pi/4)*D*D*L = 23765 L. (If those were external dimensions, it will be a little smaller)

    Not all of the volume can be used for liquid, you must allow some head above the liquid to make provision for thermal expansion.
