    What does "In Wg" stand for? It is being used on a pressure chart.

    in wg stands for inch water gauge, another name for the inch water column or just inch of water.

    The gauge means its read from a gauge, which actually measures the difference between the pressure in the pipe and the pressure of the atmosphere.

          In wg is often used as a unit of pressure (inches of water) and is not a standard engineering unit of pressure. (Let's say that its a slang term, probably from the Navy) The standard engineering unit is inches of water (in H2O, in W or in WC for column of water).

              True, and expressing the column height in millimeters won't help much either.

              Water is cheap, but, at best, a poor man's reference standard with very modest accuracy when used as a standard for density, heat capacity, or pressure.

              Columns of fluid really aren't very good pressure standards as they depend on the fluid density which varies with temperature (and pressure) and local gravity, which usually isn't "standard" gravity. It is a rough indicator.

                  90 WHAT? Water gauge may use units of inches, feet, millimeters, centimeters, meters, etc. If it is really the height of a column of water, you need to know temperature and local gravity. The pressure is equal to rho*g*h, where rho is density, which depends on temperature, g is local (or standard) gravity, and h is height.

                    You usually use "in wg" as a parameter to choose an equipment that need to work into tanks, so you will choose an equipment as minimum has a diferencial pressure as the depth of the tank.

                        W. G. is water gauge. It is a means of approximately measuring pressure as the height of a column of water the pressure will support.

                          Excuse please. But, water Is Thee standard for all weights and measures specifically because it is so uniform and consistant (as a chemical entity)! That does. not mean it does not. vary with other environmental factors. It does, like. ALL materials, but it is very consistent as a material once those factors are allowed for. And, BTW, manometers are self compensating. They show differnciially, so many of those factors you mention simply do not exist or are so small that they defy the accuracy of even the most expensive devices. They are often used despite they're inaccuracies for the sake of convenience. As a matter off fact most of these expensive meters are calibrated with tube manometers.

                              The capacity would be the volume, usually stated in liters or gallons. CFM is the flow rate, in cubic feet per minute.
