    400 mcg = _?__ mg

    Re: mcg = ? mg

mcg is a common though incorrect symbol for the microgram, 1 millionth of a gram. mg is the symbol for milligram, 1 thousandth of a gram.

    400 microgram = 0.4 milligram

I have a medication that came from two different pharmacies.
One says 50 MCG, the other says 0.05MG.
The tablets are different. Is it the same medication?

Yes, they are the same dosage. If they are different in color, it could be something as simple like, they are from different manufacturers. Only your pharmacist would know for sure.

1000 mcg (should be 1000 g) is only 1 mg.

Since this looks like pharmacy school homework, you should read the text or use Google to understand the relationship between microgram and milligram. If it isn't readily understandable, this may be the wrong line of work.

The correct answer is two, but it is critical that you understand why, and be able to solve similar problems yourself.

                      Re: mcg = ? mg

Ok I'm confused. I was SUPPOSED to take two armour thyroid (but they are out everywhere here) pills in the morning, one at lunch, one at six and one at bedtime. Dosage is 0.5 GR (30MG) per the bottle. SO five pills at that dosage.....=150 MG, right?

But had to change to one I've never heard of Liothyronine
(generic for Cytomel) that day cause all pharmacies are out of armour. Dosage 1/2 a pill three times a day; 25 MCG.

It seems like the second change was alot smaller dosage. Can you tell me what the second would be converted to as MG?

Armour 0.5 GR (30MG) five times daily
Liothyronine 25 MCG 1/2 pill three times daily

                      Thanks so much!

The amount is MUCH smaller as 25 mcg = 0.025 mg
(1000 mcg = 1 mg). The other drug may be a different active ingredient and have a different dose rate. However, a pharmacist should not be substituting something so different, and this NEEDS to be discussed with your doctor who should determine the proper dose.

                            1000 mcg = 1 mg, so 2.5 tablets.
