  • metric ton to US gallon

    Hi there,

I need to convert one metric ton of crude degummed soy bean oil to US gallons.

    Can any one help??

    Thanks, Jay

For that you'd need to know the density of the oil.

I found density data for "vegetable oil" as 0.89 tonne/cubic meter. Depends on how much accuracy you need whether to use that value or calculate the density of your specific product.

1 metric ton is 1000 kg

      IF DENSITY IS 1

      1000 kg = 1000 liter
      and
roughly 4 liters for 1 gallon

      1000 liters / 4 = 250 gallons.

The material is less dense so there should be more gallons.

We multiply by either 0.89 or 1/0.89
      we want more gallons so
      250 * 1/0.89= 280.9 gallons

It depends on the density of the substance, which depends on the substance.
