There are slightly different values of horsepower depending on the industry. But the values are very close so unless you need high accuracy then just use the International Horsepower.
In 1 horsepower is equal to 746 Watts(w) or 0.746 Kilowatt(kw). Divide 1 by 0.746 the unit is Hp per Kw(Hp/kw), thus 1 divide by 0.746 = 1.34 this shows that in one(1) kw is equal to 1.34 horsepower(hp).
0.746 kW per hp implies 1 horsepower for every 750 Watts. Just 1 hp.
Fluid pump hp = (gpm)(specific gravity)( ft-head)/(3960)(pump eff)
hp = (100)(1.0)(100ft)/(3960)(.75) = 3.37 hp, so you install a 5 hp and the pump/fan will only pull the work the fan or pump draws at that rpm.
(3.37 hp)(.746kW/hp)/ 0.85 motor eff.= 2.96kW power draw and at 6 cents per kWh every hour of operation costs $0.18. an hour a day for a month costs (.18)( 30.4 day/mo =) $5.39 run the fountain 6 hours a day ... $32 ....run it 24/7 ... $130.
