Re: converting board feet to linear feet
That depends on the width and thickness of the board.
A board foot is the volume of 1 foot of board that is 1 foot wide and 1 inch thick.
So if the board is 1 foot wide and 1 inch thick, then board foot and linear foot would be the same, otherwise we will have to calculate based on the width and thickness of the board.

I measured the size of a room. width x length. I would like to know how much crown molding I would need. If the molding is sold in linear feet.

I assume the molding goes around the entire room, so then:
length + length + width + width = total linear distance needed
If the length and width are measured in feet, then the distance will be linear feet. If the length and width are measured in meters then the distance will be linear meters, etc.
