    *You have to know the torque, in foot*pounds

    *You have to know 1 HP = 550 ft*lb/sec
    You have to convert RPM to radians per sec, 2*pi*RPM/60

    Putting it all together

    HP = (2*pi)*T*RPM/(60*550) = T*RPM/5252.113

      Re: How to convert Revolution per Minute(RPM)

      I tried that formula in the program QBasic and it didn't work.
      How would you do this?
      This is a question that might help some users.
      I couldn't find anything so far in my search.....
      Please help!

        John's answer is correct. The short version of the formula is:

        Horsepower = Torque * RPM / 5252.113

        where Torque is in Ft-Lb and RPM is in revolutions per minute. The formula should work just fine in QBasic.

            Depend on the torque produced at this rpm. See formula above.

                Measure the torque and rpm at the prop shaft and use the formula above.
