  • Please help! Converting ng/ml to nM

Hi guys, Im really struggling with this simple conversion. I need to convert insulin ng/ml to nanomoles. Can anyone offer any help.

my starting concentration of insulin is 3.5ng/ml which I need to convert into nM.

the mW of insulin is 5808kD

    Thanks all

"M" as in 1 M solution is used to represent a concentration of 1 mol/L.

Also, per Wikipedia, the molecular weight is 1/1000 of the value you gave, 5808 Da or 5.808 kDa, and the molar mass is 5808 g/mol.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insulin

    3.5 ng/mL = 3.5 g/L.
    If we divide by 5808 g/mol, we get 0.603 nmol/L = 0.603 nM.

Dont have the answer, but a similar question:
      How do I convert insulin 119 pmol/L to microgram/L? Anyone? =D

        119 pmol/L x 5808 g/mol = 0.691 g/L

Re: Please help! Converting ng to nM

          Hi,

I'm having a similar problem. I nanodropped my protein (80KDa) and found it was 0.19mg/ml. I used 12ul of this protein in an experiment and need to find out the concentration I used in terms of nM?

Re: Please help! Converting ng/ml to nM

            Always remember 1Da = 1 g/mol

Everything else is easy if you keep this on mind.

The conversion is substance-specific. It depends on the molecular weight of the substance, which is numerically equal to the molar mass in grams per mole. Without it, there is no way to proceed.

Re: Please help! Converting ug/L to nM

I am trying to convert 5 ug/L to nM. The molecular weight of the substance is 897.1

                    5 g/L x 1 mol/897.1 g =5.57 nmol/L = 5.57 nM

                        hi guys, i need help.

i need to know how could i convert the amount of amino acid from pmol/uL to mg/g?
                        (e.g; Methionine = Molecular Wt. 149.21g/mol)

                        anyone can help me?

Another insulin conversion problem, Units to moles

I need to calculate Units of insulin into moles. How many moles in 1 Unit of insulin?

                              Molar (M) is shorthand for moles per liter. 1000 ng/mL = 1000 g/L

                              1000 g/L x 1 mol/897.1 g = 1.013 mol/L or 1013 nmol/L
