    Hi,

    I have a stock solution of 550mg/ml that I want to dilute to 50ug/ml

    How would I do this?

    Measure out any convenient amount, say 1 mL
    Add solvent to make up total of 11000 times that volume, ie 11 liters total. It will be 1/11000 the strength, 50 g/mL.

      solution:


      1 g/mL= 0.001 mg/ml
      50 g/mL = 0.05 mg/ml

      stock sol is 550mg/ml,
      so take 5 ml from stock soln, and dilute it upto 100 ml. ( u will get 50 g/mL dilution)

        This is incorrect. If you dilute 5 mL to 100 mL, concentration will be 27.5 mg/mL

          Thanks for coming on and helping. Here is where you went wrong:

          The original stock solution is VERY concentrated: 550,000ppm.

          If you take 5mL, you have 2750mg, which you are diluting to 100mL. This gives a resulting conc of 27500mg/L or 27500ppm. (27.5mg/mL). Still quite concentrated.

            V1*C1 = V2*C2

            V1: The volume of solvent that you'll need to add
            C1: The concentration of the initial stock solution
            V2: The final volume you want
            C2: The concentration you want in your final volume

              I think V1 is mislabelled and is the volume of stock solution required.

                  Dilute 50:1. Measure out any convenient amount, add solvent to dilut to total volume 50X that amount, for example 1 mL, dilute to 50 mL (requires about 49 mL of solvent). Volumes are not EXACTLY additive so dilute to measured final volume.

                          Good morning,I trust you're all well. I have a quick question. I have a Gro/MGSA standard of concentration 1ug/ml. I need to dilute this standard from 1ng/ml to zero in diluent. I know 1ug.ml = 1000pg/ml...how do I go about this please? Thanks

                            1 g = 1000 ng or 1 million pg.

                            To dilute any concentration to ZERO requires an infinite amount of solvent. Good luck.

                              i have a 1000ug/mg vial of 10ml, that i need to dilute to ml, that i need 20ug/0.20ml or 100ug/1ml.. how do i do that?
