  • converting Litres per second to CFM

    Hi

Most aircompressors quote CFM flow rates, new compressors out are in litres per second. How do I convert Litres per second to CFM?

    Thanks
    Ryan

Re: converting Litres per second to CFM

You can do that conversion here:
    http://www.onlineconversion.com/flow_rate_volume.htm

CFM is the symbol for cubic foot/minute

    1 cubic foot/minute = 0.471 947 45 liter/second

my compressor is having 45 liters capacity tank & working pressure is 5.2 kg

      4 cfm is capacity

how much time will be required to fill it up

I'm trying to convert 117 CFM to Liters per square meter per second....

having trouble and could use some help.

          thanks

you can't convert cubic measurements (cubic feet per minute) to square measurements (liters per square meter per second) directly

however 117 cubic feet per minute is equal to 55.217 851 65 liters per second

              Two problems:
              *The math is inverted
*The flow is rated in raw, atmospheric air. The 45 L tank is at pressure, 5 kgf/cm² (I assume that's what he meant) is 4.8 atm, so the 45 L is the equivalent of 216 L at 1 atm.
(I have no idea what the temperature of the compressed air will be, depending on cooler performance, so I'll just ignore it). 216 L/ 113L/min = 1.9 minutes.

(Ideally both temperature and pressure should be known and used to calculate how many standard cubic feet or liters are required to fill the 45 L tank. Some heating of the compressed air is unavoidable, so the tank contents will be somewhat less than 216 standard liters)

my a/c is 603 l/s what is the cfm?

                    Recognize that 1 L = 1 dm³

                    5 dm³/h x 1h/60 min x (1ft/3.048 dm)³ = 0.00294 ft³/min

                      1 cfm = .471947 l/s,

                      603/.471947=1278 cfm

How do you work out CFM of a pneumatic cylinder and a direct air jet.ards,

Re: converting Litres per second to CFM

The standard conversion from litres to cubic ft is 1L = 0.03531467 cf keep in mind the use of mins, secs, hours and additional conversion factors. This formula is good for 1ATMOS standard.

                            l/s x 2.11 = cfm

                            eg: 603 x 2.11 = 1272.33 cfm

                            cfm to ton 1272.33/400 = 3.18 ton
