  • mg to ml

I want to convert mg to ml the substance is 10mg/ml so am I right in thinking
that if I wanted 10mg it would be 1ml and if I wanted 7mg would it be 0.7 or 0.75 ml. this is all so confusing. Please help

    Re: mg to ml

If the density of the substance is 10 mg/ml then:

    x mg / 10 mg/ml = ml
    x ml * 10 mg/ml = mg

So if you want 7 mg, then:
    7 mg / 10 mg/ml = 0.7 ml
    you would need 0.7 ml

If you have 7 ml, then:
    7 ml * 10 mg/ml = 70 mg
    you have 70 mg

By density, would that also mean concentration in mg/mls?

              The 2% could be mass/mass, mass/volume, volume/volume, etc. But Googling it is apparently 2% mass/volume, hence 2 g or 2000 mg in 100 mL,

              Hence 5 mL x 2000 mg/100 mL = 100 mg.

All the Google links are labeled 100 mg/5 mL.

                  That is 2 x 5 mL, so 2 x 100 mg = 200 mg.

No idea. The powder is probably not 100% active ingredient, so you would have to know the concentration. If it is 100% active ingredient, 7.8 mg is a fly speck. We don't know its density, but 1 mL of water is 1 g or 1000 mg.

The doctor should have given clearer directions. Counting on a parent to follow these poor instructions is basically malpractice. He should have given clear written instructions on how to measure it out and prepare it. You should contact the doctor (or pharmacist) and insist on better directions.
