  • find sq ft of triangle with 3 unequal sides

    Hello,
The piece of land is a triangle with 3 unequal sides. There is a 90 degree angle where the 56.19 ft & the 141.74 ft sides meet. The other side is 266.11 ft. Trying to find the square footage of the land.
    Thank you very much!

    "There's an app for that"
Actually a calculator, at this website:
    http://www.onlineconversion.com/shap...e_triangle.htm
It will find the area of a triangle, given 3 sides by Heron's formula.

However, there IS a problem. Your data is not a triangle. No side can be greater than the sum of the other two. If the other two are correct, the third side can't be 266.11 feet. If opposite the 90, the square of the third side is exactly the sun of squares of the other two sides (152.47').

I am guessing that you are reading from a complicated subdivision plot and have picked a figure wrong (it may apply to a line shared by multiple lots).

You're right! I was misreading the survey! Sorry... Thank you for your time. Used the conversion application & it worked fine. Great site!
