I have a testing kit for measuring chlorine levels in my water at my turkey breeding farm. It measures in ml/l. My supervisor is only interested in the ppm. How do I convert my ml/l reading to ppm?

If volume/volume is acceptable, mL/L is parts per thousand, multiply by 1000 for parts per million, as microliters per liter.

Ppm is a concentration of one thing mixed with other things. What are the other things? It is always a ratio of one component to the total, but it can be weight, volume or molar ratios or even weight/volume. But if there is only one component and no mixture, it is 1 million ppm itself.
