      Re: mIU/ml to IU/L

mIU means million units NOT milli. The prefix "milli" is not applicable to IU's. And because 1 L = 1,000 mL, we get 1,000,000 IU/.001 L. The final answer is 1 followed by nine zeros (1,000,000,000 = 1 billion IU = 1 bIU).

                    1 million IU = 1000 mIU = 1 IU
Metric prefixes ALWAYS mean the same thing

I need to know what 1.510 uIU/mL is when it is converted to mU/L. This is for TSH levels. Thank you.

Are local national units (U) different from international units (IU)? I presume the "u" is micro, 10-6. IU is an absolute amount, U/mL is a concentration. Howmany milliliters?

It seems they may be the same, although in the past they could have been different due to differing standards. Sorry not to be more help, there have been lots of threads on this here in the past. Not sure if they are current available as we are still experiencing issues with the forum upgrade.
