Howver, Wikipedia gives typical values of gross heating value (HHV):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_gas
For natural gas
One cubic foot of natural gas produces about 1,030 BTU/SCF (38.4 MJ/Nm³)
Note that "standard" and "normal" volumes are measured at different temperatures.

Can anybody help me with a formula?
Thank you.
I don't know the composition of "blast furnace gas" even on a "typical" basis.

Re: gj natural gas to m3 natural gas
what you are looking for is typically referred to as the HEAT VALUE of natural gas(I'm assuming its natural gas) this varies by the quality of the natural gas as you are converting energy to volume....a standard used in many districts is the following:
cubic metres to GJ = m3 x 0.03769
thus 500m3 of gas consumed would equal 18.845 approx GJ
18.845 GJ to m3 = 18.845 / 0.03769 = 500m3
