Hi...I am using a triple beam scale to weight 3 yards of yarn. In this example the 3 yards = .15 grams. How many yards are in 49.6 grams of the same yarn? My math came up with 992 yds. Is this correct?

You are near the precision limit of your scale though. If the weight varied ± 0.01 g, the answer would vary from 930 1063 yd, so don't assume excessive precision here.
