  • Convert mg/L of Phosphorus to mg/g

I calculated the phosphorus in sediment using the deionized method and ended up with a measurement of phosphorus in mg/L. I need to convert it to mg/kg. I know the weight of the sample size I used for the sediment. So, would it simply follow the metal formula of
metal (mg/kg) = [conc of metals (mg/L) X volume of sample (mL)] / [sample weight (kg) x 1000], even though phosphorus is a non-metal or do I have to factor in the molecular weight of phosphorus as well? Thank you for your help!

Just follow that. The molecular weight would only enter in if you were calculating a molar concentration.
