    Hello,

    please can any one help to convert length to weight in kg, and how to do that.

    i have 1493 meters of

    7 x 2.5 mm2 cu / xlpe / pvc 20kv

    All you need for cable is its copper variation (Cu Var) which the manufacturer should be able to give you, this is effectively the kg/m of copper used in manufacturing. This is used to calculate the current cost per metre as copper rises and falls in value on the London Metal exchange.

    It looks like it should be 7 strands totalling 2.5 mm˛. Is the diameter of the copper bundle (ignore the insulation) about 2 mm?
    If so. it should be about 22.7 kg/1000 m. I don't know to determine the weight of the insulation over it.

    Can you explain that description a little more? It sounds more insulated electrical wire. If that is 7 strand copper wire, each strand 2.5 mm˛, we could estimate the weight of copper, but I'm not sure how to estimate the insulation over it.

    Frankly, it would be easier to weigh a sample, measure its length and use weight per unit length to estimate 1493 m.
