Two ways of writing the same thing

For temperature differences, a change of 1 C = a change of 1 K, 10^-6 inches may also be written as inch, so 56 in/(inK) or 56 ppm/K as the prefixes are 6 orders of magnitude apart. Note that strain is technically dimensionless as the inches cancel (except the power of ten). It would also be 56 m/(mK).

Terms like ppm, ppb, etc are deprecated in the SI because they are language dependent, there are short scales and long scales, and the basis isn't clear. The cancelling units are a good way to show what the basis is.
